LICENSING YOUR DOG
All dogs over the age of 6 months are required to have a tag. Licensing is the best insurance for having a missing dog returned. Even if your dog is "always in the yard", gates can accidentally be left open, holes can be dug under fences, and they always seem to find the hole in the fence. A tag is like your dog's driver's license. Because you have to renew it every year, your information is kept on file in association with your dog's tag number so if it ends up in the shelter, we can call you to come and get him or her.
January 1st – August 31st $35
September 1st – December 31st $17.50
Licenses can be purchased at the Town Administration Building located at 4829 – 50th Street.
*** You must purchase a new license every year***

LOST & FOUND
If you find a stray dog within Town limits, you can contact Community Peace Officers at 780-632-7666 to arrange an a drop off time. The Town of Vegreville does not have a cat bylaw and do NOT pick up cats. We will assist the public by taking feral cats by placing them in the animal shelter. We wil then look for the rightful owner and after 3 days of no contact the animal will be put up for adoption. In the event that the animal is injured (dog or cat) the Veterinarian will make an assestment to decide is animal should be euthanized.
If you have lost your pet, you can contact the Community Peace Officers at 780-632-7666 to give your contact information and a description of your lost friend. You can also arrange to see the animals in the shelter to check if they are there. If your lost loved one is in the shelter, you will be advised of a total fine which must be paid at the Town Administration Building. Once all fines have been paid, you can arrange with the Community Peace Officer to have your pet released. You must bring your receipt with you to the shelter.
If an owner has not come to claim their animal, he/she will be put up for adoption. Adoption is free of charge.
