The Town of Vegreville will be replacing 22 decorative street lights on Main Street. Approximately 26 years ago, the original lights were installed as part of a downtown revitalization program. The street lights are now starting to show signs of aging and could pose a hazard to public safety. Two street lights have fallen down which, in turn, have triggered an inspection of the remaining lights. During the joint inspection with ATCO Electric, three more lights were found to be in very poor shape and in need of replacement and have since been removed because of safety concerns.
ATCO Electric will be supplying the 22 LED decorative lights which will also be more energy efficient than the old bulbs. The Infrastructure, Planning & Development Director, Dale Lefebvre, is hoping to have the project completed within a six week time frame.
