Local and Regional Residents Invited to Shape the Future of Vegreville’s Recreation Facilities

Vegreville, AB (August 28, 2024) – The Town of Vegreville is charting its future and seeking public input on the community’s recreational needs.

As Vegreville plans for the next 15 to 30 years, Town Council and Administration recognize that the municipality’s future will be shaped by the needs and desires of current and future residents. To assist in this effort, the Town has engaged a consulting firm to conduct a Regional Recreation Feasibility Study. This study will assess the long-term viability of town-owned facilities and develop a comprehensive plan for future recreational needs.

“Council remains committed to the growth and development of the Vegreville area. It is vital that we meet the recreational needs of our local and regional residents while planning for future growth. We understand that high-quality recreation facilities are key to attracting new residents and businesses, and this will be a central focus as we develop our strategic plan.”

A critical part of the planning process is gathering feedback from local and regional residents.

The Town is offering several ways for the public to participate:

  1. Vegreville Social Centre: Thursday, September 5th: 11:30 – 1:30 PM or 4:00 – 6:00 PM
  2. Vegreville Multiplex/Curling Rink: Friday, September 6th: 11:30 – 1:30 PM or 4:00 – 6:00 PM

All feedback will be compiled to help develop a strategic plan that prioritizes the community’s top needs for future development. The finalized plan will be presented to Council for review and to determine the next steps in the process.
