Community Involvement

Public members serving on Town of Vegreville boards and committees play a vital role in shaping local decisions. These initiatives provide local residents the opportunity to contribute to municipal governance by sharing insights, offering expert advice, and supporting Town Council in making well-informed choices. By participating, you help bring diverse perspectives to the table and strengthen the decision-making process.

The Town of Vegreville has a variety of Boards and Committees that may be of interest to you. Please keep in mind there are a limited number of spaces available. If your application is not chosen this year, you are encouraged to submit your application again next year.

CURRENT BOARD & COMMITTEE VACANCIES


The Municipal Policing Committee is currently seeking two public members.


The FCSS Advisory Board is currently seeking public members.


The Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is currently seeking two public members.

Assessment Review Board Details

Public Seats: 2

Meeting Frequency: As required; limited frequency

Function: The board hears appeals regarding the assessment of property within the Town of Vegreville. Required training will be provided.

Council Remuneration Committee Details

Public Seats: 3

Meeting Frequency: As required; Committee will meet within one year following a general municipal election

Function: The committee reviews and provides recommendations with respect to remuneration for the current term of office.

Land Use Committee Details

Public Seats: 4

Meeting Frequency: As required

Function: This committee provides advice and recommendations to Council regarding the Land Use Bylaw and the Municipal Development Plan.

Municipal Policing Committee Details

Public Seats: 2

Meeting Frequency: Quarterly, and as required

Function: Provide input, oversight, and guidance on local policing priorities, community safety initiatives, and public engagement related to law enforcement. Required training will be provided

Subdivision & Development Appeal Board Details

Public Seats: 5

Meeting Frequency: As required; limited frequency

Function: The board hears appeals from decisions of the Development Subdivision and the Subdivision Authority within the Town of Vegreville. Required training will be provided.

Vegreville & District FCSS Advisory Board Details

Public Seats: 7

Meeting Frequency: Monthly

Function: The board acts in an advisory capacity with regard to matters affecting the social well-being of individuals, families, and communities through prevention.

Vegreville Library Board Details

Public Seats: 9

Meeting Frequency: Monthly, except July, August, & December

Function: To act as trustee for the community and assist in Library governance.

Vegreville Tourism Advisory Board Details

Public Seats: 7

Meeting Frequency: Minimum of eight meetings per year

Function: The board reviews and provides recommendations for tourism-focused initiatives in respect to the priorities and objectives outlined in the Town’s Strategic Plan.
