Elk Island National Park Bison
Bison have found a protected sanctuary at Elk Island National Park for over a hundred years. The Canadian government purchased one of the last herds of bison and between 1907 and 1912 shipped over 700 wild bison by train to Elk Island. Elk Island is approximately 50 kilometers west of Vegreville on Highway 16 and offers a wide array of activities including camping, hiking, wildlife watching, guided tours, and more!
