RCMP Remind Residents To ‘Lock It or Lose It’
The Vegreville RCMP Detachment is reminding residents to lock up possessions whenever possible.
RCMP say there are several small steps anyone can take to help avoid becoming a victim of a crime of opportunity:
- If you do not have a remote starter, do not leave a vehicle running when unattended
- Do not leave keys, purses/wallets, or other valuables in a vehicle, even if the car is locked
- Whenever possible, refrain from leaving packages/parcels out near front doors for prolonged periods
- Do not leave bicycles or tools unattended in your yard
- Always close garage doors when leaving your property
- Lock your home’s doors while away
- If possible, consider locking gates to your backyard
- Lock sheds or other out-building on your property
