Government of Alberta Seeking Public Feedback on Proposed Highway Speed Limit Increase

The Government of Alberta is currently consulting Albertans on a proposed increase to speed limits on several divided highways, including Highway 16 — a corridor that runs directly alongside Vegreville and is widely used by residents for commuting, travel, and commercial activity.

As part of this consultation, the province has launched an online survey to gather public input on whether speed limits on selected divided highways should be increased to 120 km/h. The survey also asks for feedback on which highways should be prioritized, how often residents travel these routes, and related traffic-flow considerations.

Given Vegreville’s proximity to Highway 16, and the role this highway plays in day-to-day travel for our community, the Town encourages residents to review the proposed changes and share their perspectives.
